Privacy Policy
Last updated: 10 August 2026
Danmaku Translator is a browser extension that translates danmaku and comments on bilibili.com. This policy explains exactly what data passes through our service and what does not. It applies to the extension, to danmaku.app, and to the translation service at translate.danmaku.app.
What we collect
- The text to be translated. The danmaku and comment text on the Bilibili page you are viewing is sent to our translation service and returned translated. Translations are cached so that popular videos do not need re-translating; cached translations are stored by the text itself and are not linked to the person who requested them.
- Your email address — only if you choose to sign in with Google. It links your account to your subscription and credit balance. We receive your email and a Google account identifier; we never receive or handle your Google password.
- A random device identifier — only if you do not sign in. It is generated on your device and exists solely to count your free daily translations. It is not derived from your hardware, your IP address, or any browser fingerprint.
- A session token issued by us after sign-in, stored on your device and sent back to identify you on subsequent requests.
What we do not collect
- We do not collect your browsing history, the URLs you visit, or which videos you watch.
- We do not collect your name, address, phone number, or location. Like every website, our servers see the IP address your request arrives from; for signed-out users we use it for a few seconds as a rate-limit key to stop abuse. We never store it, never log it, and never link it to anything you translated.
- We never see your payment card details — Stripe handles all payments.
- We do not record clicks, keystrokes, scrolling, or mouse movement.
- We do not build advertising profiles, run ads, or sell or rent data to anyone.
- The extension runs only on bilibili.com and does not track you on any other website.
Who else sees this data
Translation is performed by DeepSeek, an AI model provider, which receives only the text to be translated and no information about who sent it. Payments are processed by Stripe, which receives your email and payment details directly — those details never pass through our systems. Our service runs on Cloudflare infrastructure. We do not share data with anyone else.
How long we keep it
Cached translations expire 180 days after they were last used; a translation that keeps being requested keeps being kept. A cache entry holds only the text and its translation — never who asked for it. Usage counters are kept per billing period and are not tied to any content you translated. Account records are kept while your account exists.
Your choices
You can use the extension without an account. You can turn danmaku or comment translation off at any time from the toolbar popup. You can sign out from the toolbar popup, which removes the session from your device.
You can delete your account yourself: open Account from the toolbar popup and choose Delete account. This immediately cancels any subscription and erases your email address, your usage counts and your subscription records from our systems. It cannot be undone. Payment records held by Stripe — invoices and receipts — are kept because we are legally required to retain them, but the customer profile storing your email and payment method is deleted along with everything else. If you would rather we did it for you, email support@danmaku.app and we will remove it within 30 days.
Children
Danmaku Translator is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will update the date above and note the change on the extension's store listing.
